Comenius Project Gigi & CO. in action

Comenius 1 č un'azione significativa nell'ambito del Progetto Socrates che mira a rafforzare la dimensione europea nella scuola e a favorire la cooperazione tra alunni e docenti dell'Unione Europea attraverso visite di studio, scambi culturali e metodologici.

La scuola 'Via Poseidone 66', a conclusione dell'esperienza vissuta nell'ambito del Comenius 1, iniziata nel 1999-2000 e condivisa con scuole di altri paesi europei (Scozia, Austria, Norvegia, Germania), ha svolto in questo anno attivitā che mettono in luce l'importanza dell'impegno individuale e del gruppo-classe nella salvaguardia dell'ambiente e nella riqualificazione della scuola stessa.

Tra i prodotti realizzati sono risultati particolarmente efficaci i lavori su Gigi, un personaggio della fantasia. Il fumetto Gigi & Co. (di cui si possono visionare le tavole e leggere la trama) ne č un esempio.

The plot

In the Roman offices of the World Green Association (WGA) there is a telephone call from New York. It is an invitation to the opening of a new branch.

In the old house, where the protagonists of the story live, there is excitement and enthusiasm for the departure.

The next day, at Leonardo da Vinci airport, the New York flight takes off on time.

The journey is long, but everything looks regular. Suddenly an armed man takes command of the aeroplane and hijaks it towards the South.

While they are flying over the Amazon rain forest, a terrible hurricane makes the aeroplane crash.

Among the survivors there are our friends, who manage to recuperate part of their luggage, including the computer and the tent.

After hours of walks in the thick vegetation, finally they find a small glade where they camp.

The next day, exploring the area, Mirko, who has to look for eatable food, meets with a special shark named Pasqualo.

Actually Pasqualo is a guinea pig, the result of Dr Scott's experiment. This satanic scientist has built, together with his brother Swartz, a secret laboratory in the heart of the forest in order to make experiments on animals and destroy the forest.

Now Pasqualo is a radioactive shark that can fly, breathe out of water and speak.

So he tells his story describing the experiments Dr. Scott made him to.

Luckily, he managed to run away, but other risky experiments are altering the Amazon flora and fauna.

The six friends, fully conscious of how dangerous Dr Scott was , decide to unmask him and save the forest.

The task is arduous and full of unexpected surprises, as Scott's brother has set up traps and explosives everywhere, to protect the lab security.

The monkeys of the forest join together to help Mirko and his friends, who, in the end, succed in arriving safe and sound at the secret lab where they trap the crazy scientist and his brother.
